Berenice receives Best Horror honors at the 2004 Philadelphia Video Festival!

6-28-04 / West Keansburg, NJ

This past weekend, MCP Editorial Staff was lucky enough to accompany several Senior Partners to the [shock and] awe inspiring festival debut of Edgar Allan Poe's Berenice at the Philadelphia Video Festival.

In order to ensure proper pre-party conditions, we arrived in Philadelphia on Friday evening in advance of our screening on Saturday. Beneath the smoke-rings and beer-head haze, the atmosphere at the hotel was jubilant, hopeful, festive, raucus, rowdy, and probably a little lewd.

"The screening is at the International House," begins Senior Partner S.E. Hackett. "Which is fitting because I've always trusted in our international, cross-continental, global or even universal potential."

"We aren't limited to the US, " continues Senior Partner Christian Twiste. "Even when we play here, it's always with one eye on the world. I think the International House really brings out that side of us."

"And when you think we were entered as a horror film," adds Self-Appointed President Geoffrey Ciani, "I didn't even know we made a horror film."

Regardless, MCP Editorial Staff can confirm that Edgar Allan Poe's Berenice received Best Horror honors at the festival. Really, the festival director, Michael Connelly said there was even a trophy.

"I think this is evidence of our cross-genre, multi-disciplinary approach to the art of film." explains Christian Twiste. "Here we thought we were working on a comedy, but you have to go with what the people think."

The next official showing of Berenice is slated for July 22, 2004 in Red Bank, NJ. Order your tickets online in advance!
