Live from the Berenice Premiere!

8-2-04 / West Keansburg, NJ

Well, not actually "live" of course. Then again, this wasn't actually the premiere either. As many of you know, the film already played in Philadelphia where it was awarded Best Horror Honors at the Philadelphia Video Festival.

What can we tell you? Mushroom Cloud Productions seems to have a hard time getting all of the details right, but their hearts and minds are in the right place—at least most of the time.

On Thursday evening, July 22, 2004, the right place was definitely Red Bank, NJ. The Clearview Cinemas marquee proudly displayed our "Thursday Only" performance and MCP Senior Partners and Editorial Staff were joined by family, friends, and members of the community to enjoy 2 very special screenings of Edgar Allan Poe's Berenice.

Also on hand were members of the cast and crew, including Berenice herself, the radiant Miss Trisha Hershberger.

"I think these guys are just plain lonely," Miss Hershberger begins. "They begged me to come. When that didn't work, they threatened lawsuits, so here I am."

Despite placing several phone calls on the subject, we have not received a response. Unnamed officials in the organization claim "plead" would be a better word.

Interviews given to MCP Editorial staff on the scene indicate the evening went by without a hitch. Reportedly, audiences were "dazzled" by the high level of artistry on display in the production. "Confused" and "baffled" were two other words that came up early and often.

"I wouldn't know," begins Senior Partner Christian Twiste. "I was across the street, holed up in a bar, drinking Guinness, and preparing my closing remarks."

Mr. Twiste was kind enough to address the audience after each show. The first address veered from a recitation of selected scenes from Paradise Lost to mindless babble and back again.

A witness who requested her name be withheld stated:

"I don't know if he was drunk or crazy, but I was impressed by his skills."

The highpoint of the little speech had to be the appearance of Edgar Allan Poe. Mr. Twiste claimed to have him "hiding behind the curtain" to answer questions from the audience.

"I just didn't want my name associated with these clowns," explains Mr. Poe. "I don't care how long I have been dead. These guys can still ruin a reputation."

"We're currently investigating whether or not we can sue someone for libel who's been dead a century and a half," responds Senior Partner Geoffrey Ciani. "We don't have to tolerate this type of negative campaign against our work. This is America and hope is on the way!"

"I hope something is on the way," concludes Problem Solver S.E. Hackett. "Somone other then me better be left to clean up this crap."
